Work For Us
Meet just a few of the people who make Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding great! Find out what brought them to the shipyards and what keeps them here

  Michelle
Composites Foreman
As an employee hired directly out of the Navy, and being a single parent, I found it difficult to decide exactly which career path to take next. The shipbuilding industry allowed me the opportunity to explore my options. It allowed me to decide which professional paths would be of interest to me. I worked in the Accuracy Control Department and Mold Loft to start my career and developed strong working relationships with many people, which I maintain today. On my first day at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, I knew which career path to follow—manufacturing and the technical side of the industry. I feel that working on both sides of the business was vital to my professional development. I figured out what I wanted to do with my future and how to further enhance my skills through on-the-job experience and a college degree. I also impressed management during some early projects, which was pivotal in my career.

  Cynthia
Pipe Fitter Apprentice
Like most people, I was tired of working for minimal pay in unstable, insecure jobs. The Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding apprenticeship was a great way to get started in a career and excel, and the people I work with have inspired me to do my best. As an apprentice, I was taught technical skills in a classroom setting that later fell into place on the job; it was like solving a puzzle. With the opportunities offered to me at Northrop Grumman, I have already been able to achieve great goals and that’s a great feeling!

  Christopher
Section Manager, Maintenance Planning
I began my career at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding as an electrical apprentice armed only with a high school education and a drive to excel. Sixteen years, a bachelor’s, and a master’s degree later, I am now a Section Manager. Northrop Grumman has provided me with every opportunity to complete my education and advance my career; all I needed to do was accept the challenge.

  Randall
Buyer II
I was in another line of work for 30 years. I’m so happy to be a buyer at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding now. The projects and even the day-to-day tasks are challenging. We get outstanding benefits, a three-day weekend every week, and two weeks off for the holidays. All that and we still build huge, giant, enormous ships by putting quality tools and materials into the hands of our craftsmen. Unless I get abducted by aliens, I plan to stick around.

  Joe
Deputy Program Manager
When I look back at my 1964 Moss Point High School graduation class, I see a number of us who have spent our full working careers here at “the shipyard”. Some of us came after college, others went directly after high school, and some earned degrees while working here. All have succeeded in never missing a paycheck as we raised families, participated in our communities and, oh by the way, built the Navy fleet that has kept us safe all these years.

  Alexis
Junior Accountant
I started working at Northrop Grumman in July 2006. I came right out of college with little experience in the workforce. I chose Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding because they seemed genuinely interested in helping me develop my career as a professional by providing me with the opportunity to gain experience in all areas of the business through a rotation program. Northrop Grumman is the best when it comes to developing its people and making sure they have all the tools they need to succeed.

  James
Manager, Contracts Administration
I have been in Government/Commercial Contracting for more than 35 years and returned to Northrop Grumman about eight years ago after many years with companies in the Northeast, some of which are today part of the Northrop Grumman family. I took a position with Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding after six years in Lake Charles. Change and potential for new experiences, plus the draw of the Gulf Coast, brought me here.
